Critical Thinking & Creative Problem Solving





A--ABOUT THE COURSE DESCRIPTION

Critical Thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of activity and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information gathered from, or generated by observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action.

In its exemplary form, it is based on universal intellectual values that transcend subject matter divisions: clarity, accuracy, precision, consistency, relevance, sound evidence, good reasons, depth, breath, and fairness.

This course will help the students to develop their thinking skill either at university or at work. This course runs for 3 hours every week for a total of 45 hours within 15 weeks and 90 hours for self-study.

2 - ABOUT THE COURSE OBJECTIVES

After completing this course, students enables to:
  1. Understand the logical structure of the primary class of arguments using in everyday life context,
  2. Analyze argument within strengths and weakness,
  3. Recognize common fallacies in reasoning involving determining profanities,
  4. Construct good argument using principle of informal reasoning,
  5. Do reflection on own critical practice, and
  6. Avoid prejudging while listening to others' argument

3 - LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, students will be able to:
  1. Use their thinking in the right way for every life.
  2. Inquire into an unfamiliar situation given a strategy or concept.
  3. Compare various perspectives, strategies or concepts by responding and using the most appropriate alternative.
  4. Apply creative thinking to produce a product, idea, or method in solving problem.
  5. Justify, challenge, and revise personal position, judgment, or conclusion through self-assessment and active reflection.
